Chadron State College has fewer new faculty members than usual this year with only 7 coming in at the start of the fall semester.
Five of the seven were already familiar with CSC, either by having a degree from the school or having grown up in western Nebraska.
This applies to all of the new members of the College of Justice Studies. Dr. Adam Heusing was a 2009 alumnus while Dr. Tiffany Wasserburger is a Chadron native and a 1997 CSC graduate.
Another CSC alumnus to join the faculty is natural sciences teacher Kinsley Mason, a former Eagle softball player who earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees over the past three years at Chadron State.
Education teacher Jessica Heisaker, a High Springs native, returned to the Northern Panhandle in 2017, while fellow education coach Dr. Miranda Scogan is another area native excited to be back from Wyoming
New to CSC and the region is Adrianna Calle from the Social Work Program, and Physics and Chemistry instructor Dr. Clint Everard.
School of Liberal Arts
Dr. Adam Hussing He is an assistant professor of justice studies. He graduated from CSC in 2009 from the Department of Judicial Studies with a BA in Legal Studies. In 2012, he graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln School of Law.
“It’s great to be back; teaching in the same program I graduated from. I look forward to continuing the strong traditions and values of the programme.
While in law school, he worked for the Nebraska Law Review as executive editor and was awarded the Coif Medal. After graduating from law school, he joined the Simmons Olsen firm in Scottsbluff, NE, and practiced common civil law including real estate, commercial, natural resources, probate, estate planning, bankruptcy, municipal, litigation support, and appeals practice.
Hoesing became a partner at Simmons Olsen in 2016 and an employee of the firm in 2020. He will teach Introduction to Legal Studies (LS 231), Legal Research and Writing (LS 238), Constitutional Law (LS/CJ/PS 333), and Litigation and Legal Cases. Civil Procedure (LS 232), Family Law (LS 236), Legal Research and Writing II (LS 338), and Professional Ethics and Responsibility (LS 436).
Dr. Tiffany Wasserburger He is an Associate Professor of Justice Studies. I grew up in Chadron and graduated from CSC. Before starting law school in 1997, she worked as a legislative assistant for one year in a room in Nebraska. “I am excited to be back at CSC where I started my professional journey,” she said.
After graduating with a JD from UNL Law School, she worked with Legal Aid and the Scotts Bluff County District Attorney’s Office, and was Director of the Criminal Justice Program at Western Nebraska Community College from 2014 until joining CSC.
Wasserburger was a presenter at the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences National Conference and was named a Top 10 Advocate by the Animal Legal Defense Fund during National Animal Justice Week in 2009.

School of Professional Studies and Applied Sciences
Adriana Cali He is an assistant professor of social work and his profession to date is as a mental health therapist. “This is my first time teaching in higher education,” she says. “I wanted to broaden my horizons.” She said.
Kaley graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in 2011, the Air Force Institute of Technology in 2013, and the University of Central Florida in 2019. She is a member of the National Association of Social Workers and will teach policy analysis and advocacy (SW 434). ), Services for the Aged and Disabled (SW 332), and Prior Field Training and Orientation (SW 459).
Jessica Hisaker He is a teacher in education. She has a BA in Education, Humanities, and Social Sciences and Training from UNL, a Master’s degree in School Leadership from Concordia University, and is pursuing a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from Liberty University.
“Working at CSC will allow me to work alongside a team of individuals who are as passionate about teaching and education as I am,” says Heissaker. “I am passionate and excited to be a part of mentoring and partnering with the next generation of educators.
Most recently, she was the Principal and Dean of Students at Red Cloud Indian School in Pine Ridge, SD, after being a teacher, principal, and principal at Denver Tech. She was also an instructor and administrator at the Austin Business and Entrepreneurship Academy in Chicago.
At CSC, Hessacker will teach Introduction to Teaching (EDUC 131), Foundations of Assessment (EDUC 329), and Secondary/Master’s Assessment (EDUC 418S).
Dr. Miranda Scogan He is a teacher in education. She earned a bachelor’s degree in education and special education, a master’s degree in learning and technology from Western Governors University, and a doctorate in education with a focus in special education from North Central University.
Scogan is from Wyoming, where she taught special education and behavior at Chugwater and was the case manager in Wheatland, Wyoming. She is a member of the National Association for Leadership and Success.
She says, “My previous work experiences led me to obtain a Ph.D. in Education. These experiences also helped me realize that private education is my passion and that higher education is where I can realize my full potential as an educator.
Skogan will teach Introduction to the Exceptional Learner (SPED 230), Assessment of Individuals with Mild to Moderate Disabilities (SPED 435/535), Special Education Practices and Strategies (SPED 444), Assessment and Diagnosis of Young Children (SPED 640), and Characteristics of Learning Disabilities (SPED 555). ).
College of Business, Mathematics and Science
Dr. Clint Everard He is a teacher of physics and chemistry with a BA in Physics from Indiana State University, a Master’s degree in Computational Chemistry/Materials Physics and a PhD in Electronic Structure Theory/Computational Quantum Materials from the University of Louisville.
He has lectured and taught online in Louisville for 5 years, giving talks and posters at numerous professional conferences while publishing numerous research articles, including his dissertation, in professional journals.
Evrard says he appreciates CSC’s campus environment and the benefits it offers students. “I enjoy being able to get to know my students so I can make adjustments based on their needs. CSC is the perfect environment for this. He will teach College 1 Chemistry and Laboratory (CHEM 131/131L) and University Physics 1 and Laboratory (PHYS 151/151L).
Kinsley Mason He is a teacher of natural sciences and was a true student-athlete at Chadron State. As a member of the softball team, she has also been a recipient of a NASA Nebraska Fellowship and has made several presentations at the Nebraska Academy of Sciences.
After earning a bachelor’s degree in molecular biology, she earned a master’s degree in science education while working as a graduate assistant and faculty assistant in natural sciences and as a softball coaching assistant.
Mason will teach Elementary and Middle Grade Teacher Physical Science (GEOS 129), Astronomy (GEOS 138), Planetary Geology to Teachers (GEOS 312), Paleontology (FYI 169AU), College Chemistry Lab I (CHEM 131L), and College Chemistry II Lab (CHEM 132L), Chemistry Laboratory Survey (CHEM 140L), and Organic Chemistry Laboratory (CHEM 333L). She will also curate performances at the Lois Veath Planetarium.
