Governor Glenn Youngkin Announcing key management and board appointments. Lindsey Winter From Virginia Beach, Head of Virginia Public Policy at Amazon, appointed to Virginia Innovation Partnership Authority. Kari Malechko Norfolk, vice president of plant operations for Newport News Shipbuilding, and was named to the Board of Trustees of the Virginia Science Museum. Billy Foster From Suffolk, President/CEO of TowneBank, appointed to the Revenue Estimates Advisory Board. Dr. Andrew J. Nash The VA of Norfolk, an audiologist with the Department of Veterans Affairs, is appointed to the advisory board for the Virginia Division of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Christa Martinez Chesapeake, deputy chair of the Norfolk Commonwealth Solicitors and co-director of the Norfolk Center for Family Justice, has been appointed to the Advisory Committee on Domestic and Sexual Violence. Ross Stoll Native to Virginia Beach, Consultant with Accenture, Appointed to the Commonwealth Committee on Secure and Resilience. David Hackworth Chesapeake, a senior associate at Moseley Architects, is appointed to the state’s local and regional prison board. Vanessa Christie Native of Virginia Beach, CEO of Prevailance Aerospace, is appointed to the Virginia Aviation Board.

Newport News Mayor Philip JonesAssistant City Manager Ralph “Bo” Clayton and Human Resources Manager Alison DiChoso They were selected to participate in the seventh grade of Bloomberg Leadership Initiative at Harvard City. They join a group of 40 mayors and 80 senior municipal leaders from around the world who are participating in the year-long professional management training programme. Created by Bloomberg Philanthropies, Harvard Kennedy School and Harvard Business School, the program covers topics including policy development and communications, poverty reduction, equitable growth and jobs, climate and resilience, affordable housing, transportation and infrastructure.

Grants and donations

Girl Scouts of the Colonial Coast He was awarded a grant of $15,000 Bernardine Franciscan Sisters Foundation To support the creation of a new telephone system at its headquarters, Place for Girls, in the Chesapeake. The new multifunctional telephone system has several benefits that improve communications and reduce additional costs.

Mergers and acquisitions

Based in Newport News Ferguson acquired Bruce Supplies Corporationplumbing distributor; Kennedy cos., distributor of water stations; And SG Torres, a distributor of heating, ventilation and air conditioning. All three acquisitions closed on July 31 and have generated total annual revenues of about $450 million.

Opening

Linmark Financial ServicesInc., a Lawrenceville, Georgia-based consumer and home loan solutions provider, has opened a new branch located at 750 Independence Blvd. in Virginia Beach. It marks the company’s 45th location in Virginia.

on August 7, Mellon HatleyInc., a women-owned law firm working in the fields of family law and estate planning, has opened its approximately 10,000 square foot office just off Lynnhaven Parkway. The new corporate office will support the company’s three other offices in Virginia and North Carolina.

The Outer Banks Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Outer Banks Golf Club On July 25th. It houses a golf professional’s practice, play and equipment store stocked with clubs and apparel. The room also held a ribbon cutting Sherwin Williams at Southern Shores on July 26. It’s a full-service site for contractors and homeowners who carry pressure washers, paint sprayers, staircases, and a wide selection of wallpaper available by special order.

Based in Newport News ITA Internationala data, technology, and professional services company, was recently awarded a grant from the Foundation National Institutes of HealthThis enables the company to develop the time-tested NanoSafe software. The program aims to determine the exposure characteristics of products that contain engineered nanomaterials and breathable particles to ensure consumer safety and support safety-conscious manufacturers. ITA and the National Institutes of Health will improve evaluation protocols for advanced manufacturing products (such as 3D printers and laser engravers), cosmetics, filter devices, face masks, and other high-risk products.
