Full-service law firm Thorntons opens its first office in Inverness as part of its ambitious growth plans.
The firm has secured modern premises within Beechwood Business Park with space to develop a large legal presence in the town. It is also in the process of appointing a new team based in Inverness, which will include several prominent legal figures with a good standing in the local market.
The new Inverness practice will provide services to private clients including wills, trusts and tax planning, while also providing specialist business law advice to clients operating in the city’s most prominent sectors including commercial real estate, agriculture, life sciences, energy, renewable energy and hospitality. .
Inverness will be the 14th companyy Its location, and the first of its kind in the Highlands, helps significantly expand Thorntons’ geographic footprint as it strives to become Scotland’s premier independent law firm.
After many years working with clients in Glasgow, Thorntons has recently opened its first permanent office in the city, where it hopes to replicate the success of its Edinburgh practice which began in 2004 with three staff and now has over 100 people.

Thorntons supports a range of initiatives that benefit individuals and groups in its local communities, including projects that support youth development through learning, sports, arts, medical research and community foundations.
Her team of private clients recently launched their annual charity bequest in support of Cash for Kids. The company, which waives its fee for bequests made in September in favor of donations to charities, has raised more than £600,000 through the campaign, which was founded 27 years ago.
The company has 71 partners and employs more than 550 people across 14 Scottish offices including sites in Glasgow and Edinburgh.
