Susan Denaro, Esq. The Berks County Community Foundation Board Chair was elected, and three new members were elected

Berks County Community Founder Susan Denaro, Esq. as Chairman of its Board of Directors. Denaro has served on the Board of Directors since 2020, his most recent position being as Vice President. She replaces Al Weber, who has served as Chairman for the past three years, and will remain on the Board as the immediate predecessor.

Denaro is a lawyer with Georgeadis Setley. I have practiced law for over thirty years, mainly in the areas of estate planning/management and adoption. She also handles matters of guardianship, real estate and family law. She is an attorney with the Prothonotary of Berks County, a position she has held for more than twenty-five years. She has also served on the boards of directors for the Yocum Institute and the Common County Health Services, and is an emeritus board member of both the Wyomissing Public Library and the LGBT Great Reading Center. She is also a permanent member of the Young Readers’ Association.

In addition to Denaro, the Community Foundation welcomed three additional members to its Board of Directors this month:

Thomas F. Flynn, Senior Fellow for Counseling Services of the Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities, Senior Fellow of the Association of Boards of Directors, President Emeritus of Alvernia University, Carissa Johnson, Judge of Reading County 23-1-02 and Rick Studt, President of High Construction.

Flynn is a Senior Fellow for Counseling Services of the Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities, a Senior Fellow of the Association of Boards of Directors, and President Emeritus of Alvernia University. He was president of the university for two decades, and previously served as academic director and professor of English.

Graduated from Boston College and the University of Michigan, and completed professional development programs at Harvard University. Aside from membership on local, state, and national boards, he has received awards for teaching, academic leadership, community engagement, and interfaith efforts, and has served as a consultant to more than two hundred universities.

Johnson has served as the Judicial District Judge for District 1-23-02, which is located in Southeast Reading, since 2018. As a Democrat, she has devoted much of her time to improving conditions in her community.

Johnson also serves as a mentor for the Fraternity of Reading (an organization that empowers young women to pursue their dreams), a member of the NAACP Reading Chapter, the Women2Women Council of the Great Reading Room Alliance, and the Delta Sigma Theta Women’s Club. inclusion. She is also a Ready.Set.Read volunteer with the United Way of Berks County and launched Pipeline 2 Opportunities MDJ Shadowing.

Stoudt began his career with Turner Construction, eventually becoming Vice President of Operations overseeing noteworthy projects including the Penn State Health Center St. Joseph Medical Center in Bern Township, Santander Arena in Reading and Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. He moved to Hamis in 2007 as Executive Vice President, Project Development, where he oversaw health care development across the country through fourteen offices nationwide. In 2014, Stoudt became president of High Construction Company, where noteworthy projects in Berks County include UGI’s world-class training facility near Reading Airport.

Board members may serve three or three year terms.
