Dr. Shin is a highly successful attorney, consultant, educator, public speaker, and bestselling author who sold real estate to earn his MBA and law degree. After completing his law studies, he joined the Shell Oil Company, where he worked in three states in three years. He then moved to a management position at Tenneco Oil Company, and later worked as a recruitment consultant. In 1987, he entered private law practice and in 1989, he became President and General Counsel of Claremont Management Group, Inc. Headquartered in Houston, Dr. Shin’s company specializes in providing services that focus on productivity and help organizations grow. Among the diverse services, Mr. Shin and his team of experts excel in consulting and training in management, human resources, conflict resolution, diversity, assessment, equal employment opportunity, and much more. They also specialize in helping startups develop their initial human resources infrastructure.

In addition to his corporate career, Dr. Shin has taught at the Cameron School of Business at St. Thomas University in Houston since 2013. He is now Emeritus Professor and Cameron Chair of Management and Marketing. He is currently teaching management, business law, and business ethics courses to graduate and undergraduate students. Dr. Shin also served as Director of Graduate Programs for six years through 2022, and was active on several campus committees. He has previously taught courses at Virginia State University, University of Richmond, University of Mary Washington, Central Michigan University, and Louis National University.

Among other noteworthy roles, Dr. Shin served as an outside consultant and attorney for Wordmark Corporation from 2005 to 2008. He has also spoken publicly at numerous seminars and trainings across the US and hosted the daily radio program “It’s Your Job!” in Richmond, Virginia, from 2008 to 2009. Early in his career, Dr. Shin presented a weekly one-hour show on public radio covering the arts in Philadelphia, “The Arts Menagerie”.

Dr. Shin, a frequently published author, published America’s Cities Held Hostage: Public Stadiums and Professional Sports Privileges in the 2017 edition of the Richmond Journal of Public Interest Law. He also published two books, “America’s Decline: 100 Years of Failed Leadership” in 2018 and his bestselling book “A Bad Deal for America” in 2022, which won the Bronze Medal from the World Book Awards in 2022. Dr. She intends to publish three additional books. As a consistent researcher, he has also authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in academic journals. He was recognized as Editor-in-Chief Honorary of the Journal of Cultural Management, holding this position from 2019 to 2022.

Dr. Shin has been honored with televised interviews on Houston TV Channel 13, ABC. He has also appeared on radio on KSEV 700 AM in Houston every Wednesday afternoon in 2016, speaking on current business and employment topics. Moreover, Dr. Shin has been cited in many national and local publications for his contributions.

As a leader in his civil society, Dr. Shin has been active on the Board of Directors of the Greater Highlands Chamber of Commerce and as a former director of the Houston Asian Chamber of Commerce for over a decade. He has also served as a patron member of the Houston Grand Opera and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. In addition, Dr. Shane is a life member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

Dr. Shin has a higher education, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Transportation Economics from the University of Pennsylvania in 1973, an MBA from the University of Virginia in 1975, a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Houston Law Center in 1977, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Higher Education Administration from the University of Virginia in 2005. He is admitted to practice by the bar associations in Texas and Virginia and has credentials as a licensed real estate broker in both Texas and Virginia.

Building on his experience, Dr. Shin has been active with several professional organizations, including the Academy of Legal Studies in Business Administration, the Houston Council on Foreign Relations, the Houston Council on Global Affairs, and the Texas Bar Association. He has also been recognized as a faculty member of the Greater Houston Business Ethics Roundtable and the Houston Asia Society.

In honor of his achievements, Dr. Shin received the Service Award in 2021 and the Research Award in 2021 from the University of St. Thomas. He attributes his success as a first-generation college graduate to his hardworking parents. They always stressed the importance of education and instilling discipline in him and his six siblings.
