Franklin, NJ – Two people are killed in a car crash on Somerset Street near Voorhees Street

FRANKLIN, NJ (August 28, 2023) — A car accident in Franklin during the early morning hours of Sunday, August 27, was reported to the police. Reports from the authorities show that the collision occurred on Somerset Street at approximately 6:22 am.

According to information provided by officials, the accident occurred when a 2007 Audi Q7 was heading south on Somerset Street near Voorhees Street. Four people were inside the Audi at the time.

The car ran off the road and hit a pole and a number of trees in addition to a pole before it came to a stop. At the moment, it is still not clear why the accident occurred.

A 24-year-old from Franklin was riding in the right-hand rear passenger seat at the time. He was removed from the vehicle during the accident and was pronounced dead at the scene. A 20-year-old North Brunswick man, riding in the left rear passenger seat, also lost his life in the collision. Another passenger was injured in the accident and was treated by paramedics at the scene.

The driver was taken to a local hospital to receive emergency medical care for the injuries he sustained in the accident.
