Motorcycle accidents in New Jersey
It is important for motorcyclists to understand that New York’s no-fault laws do not apply to them. This is due to the fact that motorcyclists are not defined as motorized vehicle operators. Motorcyclists injured in auto accidents are not entitled to medical benefits and income benefits forfeited as a result.
Motorcyclists are required to carry insurance if they are injured in a traffic accident. Motorcyclists must carry an insurance policy that covers all those injured in a collision for up to $25,000. The minimum policy is $50,000 in the event of the death of a person involved in the wreck, and $100,000 is required if two or more deaths occur in a single accident.
In addition, motorcyclists can purchase supplemental UM/UIM insurance plans. These offer up to $250,000 per person per accident and $500,000 when two or more people are injured. Because of these demands, victims who sustain injuries during a motorcycle crash may be able to collect financial compensation from the insurance company.
